“Be hospitable” the Hilton way
Commemorating National Kindness Week and continuing its effort to bring common courtesy to the forefront, the Hilton Family of Hotels today introduced the be hospitable Index – an online site that celebrates acts of kindness and hospitality across the globe.
The be hospitable Index is a further expression of the Hilton Family’s be hospitable®philosophy, stemming from company founder Conrad Hilton’s desire to “fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality.” Visitors to the site at www.behospitable.com are invited to share the good deeds and acts of kindness they witness, offer to others or receive, to help grow the Index in their communities. Some of the submitted stories will even be highlighted on the site as part of the be hospitable Show, an ongoing feature hosted by Brooke Channon, host of HGTV’s Sensible Chic.
The Show spotlights courteous acts through live-action video, animations and reenactments in a series of short vignettes viewable on the behospitable.com home page.
“Our aim is to ensure that no good deed goes unmapped,” said Mary Beth Parks, vice president of marketing, Hilton Family of Hotels. “In addition to being hospitable to guests in our hotels, we want to further the spread of hospitality by helping to inspire acts of kindness and consideration in a chain reaction of good deeds across the world.”
be hospitable® is the philosophy shared by all nine hotel brands in the Hilton Family of Hotels. The Hilton Family of Hotels has carried the be hospitable philosophy into a variety of initiatives that touched team members and the global community. The company partnered with Ladies’ Home Journal and Habitat for Humanity to build homes in the Hurricane Katrina ravaged town of Slidell, Louisiana and produced its first-ever children’s book with acclaimed author, Todd Parr called, “be hospitable” to inspire young readers to be courteous and thoughtful.
It also made it even easier for members of its highly popular guest reward program, Hilton HHonors®, to convert their HHonors points and contribute to a variety of unique, non-profit, charitable organizations, called the Hilton Family Giving Back Program, at www.hiltonfamily.com/givingback.
