Begg: I’ll be off to the third world
Global Travel Group founder George Begg said he would be ‘finished with business’ after the sale to Stella and in future planned to work on charity projects in the third world.
Begg stressed that he would be around for some time to come yet – he is to be a consultant to the new group for the next three years – but had now had his fill of running businesses.
“I’ve been thinking about it for a long time. I’m good at going in and fixing things and I want to apply that to good causes in the third world, probably Africa,” he said.
“I’ve got to the point where I would rather help people than make a few extra pounds as a travel agent.”
Begg said he would live in the third world to work on various projects. “I don’t think I can do it without being there,” he said.
