Beijing now allowing direct international flights

Wednesday, 03 Sep, 2020 0

Beijing city government has given the green light for international flights to resume.

According to government spokesperson Xu Hejian, limited flights are permitted from a number of ‘low risk’ countries.

These are Cambodia, Greece, Denmark, Thailand, Pakistan, Austria, Canada and Sweden.

Passengers must have a negative nucleic acid Covid-19 test prior to boarding and passenger arrivals will be capped at 500 per day for an initial period.

The first flight, an Air China service from Pnom Penh, Cambodia, touched down in Beijing early on Thursday.

The city has been closed to inbound overseas flights since March.

All international flights bound for Beijing were rerouted to other Chinese cities such as Shanghai.

A special section at the Beijing Capital International Airport has been reserved for inbound passengers to be processed and screened.
