With Belfast, Moxy Hotels celebrates its 100th Opening in Europe

Marriott International has opened its 100th Moxy hotel in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) with the debut of Moxy Belfast City. The new property is marking a major milestone in the brand’s rapid expansion and its promise of fun, spirited stays for modern travelers.

Set in the heart of Belfast, the 179-room property is the first Moxy in Northern Ireland and a textbook example of the brand’s lively style. A partnership with MHL Hotel Collection, the conversion project features the signature Moxy vibe—from the energetic lobby where guests check in at Bar Moxy with a welcome drink, to buzzing communal spaces designed for gatherings from morning to late night. The hotel also offers grab-and-go bites, locally inspired programming, and plug-and-play communal tables. It’s steps from Belfast City Hall, Ulster Hall, Victoria Square, and the nightlife-packed Cathedral Quarter.

Reaching 100 hotels in EMEA is a proud moment for the Moxy brand,” said Neal Jones, Chief Operating Officer for Europe & Africa Premium & Select, Marriott International. “Moxy Belfast City captures everything our guests love—bold design, energetic service, and a sense of fun that’s unmistakably Moxy. We’ve been challenging traditional hotel stays since the brand launched a decade ago, and now 60 percent of our global portfolio is in this region.

After Belfast, another 5 Moxy properties to open this year in Europe

Since its 2014 debut in Milan, Moxy—part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio—has built a reputation for industrial design, vibrant social areas, and bold programming aimed at a new generation of travelers. After unveiling plans last year to hit the 100-hotel mark in EMEA by the end of 2025, the brand has opened locations in Spain, Luxembourg, Turkey, and across Europe, including recent additions in Italy, France, Poland, and Germany.

Growth continues through 2025, with new properties slated for Lisbon, Dublin, Hamburg, London’s Piccadilly Circus, and Paris’s La Villette. Each Moxy is encouraged to infuse local character while staying true to the brand’s playful, stylish ethos.

Paul Higgins, partner at MHL Hotel Collection, added, “We’re thrilled to be the 100th Moxy and the first in Northern Ireland. Belfast’s energy and character make it the perfect home for a brand that thrives on connection, fun, and innovation.”
