Belmond appoints new SVP global of development
Hotel and travel group Belmond has appointed James Simmonds as senior vice president, global development.
Simmonds joins the company from Rosewood Hotel Group in Hong Kong, where he served as SVP – Development, Asia Pacific and China.
During a long career, he has gained broad experience across various hospitality disciplines including consulting, asset management, joint venture development and direct hotel investment.
"James’ experience as both a hotel investor and an operator, as well as his impressive track record in negotiating and securing management agreements, makes him a great addition to our senior management team as we continue to deliver on our strategy of long-term growth for the Company," said John Scott, Belmond’s president and Chief Executive.
Belmond, which rebranded earlier this year from Orient-Express Hotels Ltd., manages 45 hotels and operates rail and river cruise experiences in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia.
