Belmond names new CEO
Hotel and travel group Belmond has named board member Roeland Vos as its new president and chief executive officer with immediate effect.
He replaces the outgoing John Scott, who has resigned by mutual agreement.
Vos spent many years as an executive at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, serving as Starwood’s president for Europe, Africa and the Middle East from 2001 to 2013.
Vos began his hospitality career at ITT Sheraton in 1982 prior to its acquisition by Starwood and has held various senior management positions in the group, including vice president and area director, Italy and Malta.
"As we focus on accelerating the pace of growth and realizing the tremendous potential of this company, we are excited about the appointment of Roeland Vos," said Roland Hernandez, chairman of the Board of Directors at Belmond.
"Roeland is the perfect CEO to grow the top-line and capitalize on the many opportunities that exist in a dynamic and rapidly changing industry. He is a strong strategic thinker, experienced hotelier and proven leader with a track record of delivering results."
