‘Benidorm’ TV show boosts Benidorm bookings
Travelsupermarket has reported a jump in searches for Benidorm following the return of popular ITV television series of the same name.
It said during the premiere of the sixth series last Thursday, searches to the coastal resort were more than double the day before, showing an increase of 108% the hour the programme went to air.
Meanwhile, on Channel 4 the show ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Holiday’ also prompted a surge in interest in the destinations featured.
Mexico searches saw an uplift of 74%, while Tenerife saw a climb of 46% during the hour the programme aired.
Bob Atkinson, travel expert from travelsupermarket.com, said: "With laptops, tablets and smart phones often so close to hand whilst in front of the TV, it is no surprise watching the programmes’ larger than life characters having fun in the sun inspired so many viewers to check out prices and availability."
