Best Western Hotels claims to have launched its largest ever joint promotion with National Rail.

Train travellers in January, February or March can stay for two nights for the price of one at more than 130 Best Western hotels in the UK.

The hotel group’s marketing director Sharon McBroom said: “Nowadays, many people are opting to go abroad for holidays, but we are excited about showing off what is on our own doorstep. Great Britain is an incredible place and we very much look forward to enabling more people to explore its fantastic diversity.”

Association of Train Operating Companies communications director Edward Funnell said: “Britain’s rail network has some 2,500 stations and with so many Best Western hotels to choose from, there are simply endless options available to everyone.

“We are encouraging people to think creatively about themed routes; perhaps they want to sample some of the best architecture Great Britain has to offer, by visiting our fantastic cathedrals, or our industrial heritage, or, being World Cup Year, retracing the 1966 finals in England.”
