Rezidor dedicates more than 1000 hours to Take Action in the Community

Throughout the month of September Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels across the UK participated in Responsible Business Action Month for the seventh year running. 21 Park Inn by Radisson hotels and 10 Radisson Blu properties across the region all took part in a variety of ‘Take Action in the Community’ fundraising challenges which saw Rezidor employees spend over 1000 hours raising money and lending a hand to respective local community charities and for Rezidor’s corporate charity organisation, the World Childhood Foundation.

Representing Radisson Blu hotels in the UK, the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel in London invited all employees to attend a British Military Fitness session to encourage fitness and healthy living within the team – £400 raised and 157 hours spent raising money for RBAM.

In Jersey, staff members from the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel raised a total of £700 and spent 50 hours across a variety of initiatives to raise money for two local charities, the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust and Jersey Hospice Care.

In Cardiff, the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cardiff sponsored a local school football team – £200 raised and 20 hours spent on RBAM initiatives.

Park Inn contributions included Park Inn Heathrow where employees raised £425 by holding an employee charity lunch, and Park Inn Peterborough where a human greyhound race and a volunteer day at the children’s ward at Peterborough Hospital raised £300.

To top this year’s Responsible Business activities, Rezidor hotels across the UK have organised a Grand Charity Raffle for the World Childhood Foundation, which will take place in December. The aim is to raise £12,000 for the charity by auctioning off a selection of great prizes including holidays to Dubai, Abu-Dhabi and Jordan, a catered-for meal to be held at the prize winners home for up to 50 guests, Champagne and a Sharp Aquos 40” LCD TV.

Responsible Business Action Month is part of The Rezidor Hotel Group’s company-wide Responsible Business Programme which was launched in 2001 and comprises responsibility for guest and employee health and safety, respect for social and ethical issues within the company and reduced environmental impact.

Rezidor was also the first hotel group to offer guests carbon offset possibilities. For its engagement the group has received several awards including the Worldwide Hospitality Award in 2004 and earlier this year was recognised by the Ethisphere Institute (USA) as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for 2010.
