Big moves at the Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre
The Chairman of the Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre, Sir Frank Moore has announced that changes to the executive team to take the Centre to a third round rebid over the next 12 months have been made, with the Sustainable Tourism CRC Board appointing Ian Kean as interim CEO effective immediately.
His focus will be to maintain the quality output of the Centre and to further enhance the engagement with all university, industry and government stakeholders.
Mr Kean has taken over from Professor Terry De Lacy who stepped down as CEO on 2 July 2007.
The Sustainable Tourism CRC Board has already put in place processes to engage a wide search for a new CEO to lead the Centre to a successful third round rebid to be submitted in early 2008.
Mr Kean has many decades of experience within, and is well known throughout, the Australian tourism industry. Mr Kean will also continue as Executive Director of the APEC Centre for International Sustainable Tourism (ACIST), the research arm of the APEC Tourism Ministers Working Group.
The Sustainable Tourism CRC Board says that they accepted with regret Professor Leo Jago’s decision to resign as Director of Research but is pleased that he will continue in this role for a month or so to assist in the transition process.
A new Director of Research will be recruited concurrently with the search for a CEO.
On behalf of the Sustainable Tourism CRC Board, the Chair Sir Frank Moore thanked both Professors De Lacy and Jago for their outstanding service and acknowledges the continuing high quality of research being carried out which will successfully underpin the Centre in its third round of funding through 2017.
