Big online ad push by Virgin Holidays
A £1 million advertising campaign by Virgin Holidays breaks on Boxing Day using a character called Doc Holiday.
The push will feature heavily online, reach listeners through key radio stations as well as up to 150 adverts appearing in selected national newspapers.
Online media including sites such as AOL, Sky News and Times online will be used during the January peak booking period.
Doc Holiday will also feature on the launch of Virgin Holidays’ bookable travel agent website www.vhols4agents.com as it goes live in time for January, as reported by TravelMole. The site will allow travel agents to make holiday bookings on line for the first time with complete flexibility and a range of multi-booking functions and holiday information.
Agents will have the chance to win a holiday with the best excuse for a sick note winning a seven-night all-inclusive break in the Caribbean.
The operator’s head of marketing communications Ginny Macklen said: “January is an extremely busy time for the travel industry with more people booking holidays than any other time of the year.
“There are so many travel companies in the market now competing for business and advertising at this time of the year so it was important that we came up with a creative concept that touched the emotions of customers and weren’t just about advertising the lowest price”.
