Biking the Biblical paths of Jesus
"Bike tours around the Galilee are a new and innovative way to experience Christian holy sites in Israel," says Haim Gutin, Israel’s Commissioner for Tourism in North and South America.
Israel is now working with tour operators to promote new ‘Biking the Path of Jesus’ tours.
The 12-mile routes can be done in two-day or week-long tours. They depart from places like Nazareth and travel through Mt. Carmel, Mt. Gilboa and Mt. Tabor into the hills and ancient olive groves around Kibbutz Lavi. Two-day tours leave Kibbutz Lavi and journey through the Horns of Hattin Fort to the Druze pilgrimage site of Nebi Swe’be, and then from there to the Arbel Valley, Sea of Galilee and Capernaum.
Advanced bikers can do week-long bike pilgrimages from Mt. Hermon in the north to Mt. Carmel near Haifa and through the Biblical towns of Caesarea, Jerusalem and Masada.
The tours are available for beginner to mid-level riders and suitable for children, ages 13 and above.
