Bill proposal to hike pilot retirement age
A new bill has been tabled to keep more pilots in the cockpit. Sen. Lindsey Graham introduced the ‘Let Experienced Pilots Fly Act. ‘which would raise the mandatory retirement age for airline pilots from 65 to 67.
Graham says it will save the hiring of about 14,000 pilots by 2026.
Pilot unions are opposed to it, laying the blame on airlines for failing to plan properly for and misjudging the speed of the air travel recovery.
