Bill Savage heads new Cardiff promotion company
Cardiff and Co, a new private/public sector company, has been formed to promote and market the Welsh capital at home and abroad.
Chairman Bill Savage was managing director of Liverpool, Humberside, Leeds/Bradford and Coventry airports as well as executive director of business development at Manchester Airport. He also played a role in Marketing Manchester, the company set up to promote that city.
The managing director of Cardiff and Co has been confirmed as Nicola Poultney, who joins the organisation in July when she leaves her role as deputy chief executive of Experience Nottinghamshire.
Cardiff and Co has been formally incorporated with the support of Cardiff Council and the Cardiff Harbour Authority.
The organisation will be signing up partners, many of whom have already expressed interest in supporting its work to market the city.
Savage said: “Cardiff and Co will bring together the best of Cardiff’s businesses, activities and agencies to enable the capital of Wales to really punch its weight promotionally throughout the UK and internationally.
“The work we plan to undertake will cover business and leisure tourism as well as promoting and marketing the City of Cardiff to inward investors. This is an exciting time for Cardiff and this new company will be a pivotal part of the city’s continued success.”
Poultney said: “Cardiff has such great potential to continue the success it has already achieved. It is a growing city, a great European capital city and an attractive place in which to invest.
“It has already begun to expand its business and leisure tourism and I am looking forward to working with the team of Cardiff and Co and with our partners so that we can market Cardiff for more growth to the national and international markets.”
