Bingle out – Rings in!
With Lara Bingle facing increased criticism of her post “Where the bloody hell are you” campaign activities, while she may have been key face of Australian tourism, it appears that Lara has been ousted in Europe by Sydney mother and award-winning dancer Frances Rings.
Frances also appears in the TV ads with reports saying that Germans are going crazy about her, with Frances proving so popular that the campaign has been edited for the European market to emphasise indigenous tourism, also emphasising Frances line, “We’ve been rehearsing for over 40,000 years”, with an aboriginal dance troupe performing in the background.
Frances is a descendent of the Kokatha tribe, but also boasts German ancestry and it may be this natural connection that has turned on so many Germans, although Tourism Australia statistics, show that an average of 12% of international visitors pursue indigenous tourism, but a third of Germans visiting Australia doing so.
With Brits and other European visitors increasing their demand for indigenous tourism more than ever before, it appears the criticism that the campaign was very “white” orientated, has resulted in it being significantly edited for some overseas markets.
