Bmi to introduce e-ticketing
Bmi british midland is introducing e-ticketing to most of its domestic routes, and some European routes for next year.
The e-ticketing system is being tested on a number of routes at the moment, and until January, passengers can opt to purchase an e-ticket.
The advantages of e-tickets is that they cannot be lost, or stolen, changes to bookings can be made over the phone, and passengers no longer have to wait to receive tickets by mail, or pick up a ticket at airport ticket desk.
Bmi general manager direct sales, Paul Burroughs said: “We realise how precious time is to our passengers and that travel should be as quick and easy as possible throughout their journey and this is what we are aiming for with the e ticket.”
The carrier is not yet offering e-ticketing on flights to Brussels, Chicago, Madrid, Milan, Nice, Palma or Washington.
Bmi British Midland is suspending flights from Manchester to Washington from 2 December, following an agreement with South African Airways to lease it the aircraft that usually flies the route. The carrier will continue to take bookings for when the flight resumes in June 2003. The Manchester to Chicago service will continue to operate.
