Bmibaby expands fleet for 2007
Bmibaby plans route expansion next summer with the addition of new aircraft.
The budget airline will have additional Boeing 737s from Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and Nottingham East Midlands airports.
The extra capacity will be created from two new additions to the fleet and two redeployed aircraft, bringing the fleet up to 21.
The airline said was in “advanced discussions” with airports about potential route expansion which would create additional local employment opportunities.
Managing director Crawford Rix said: “For the summer of 2007 we are going to focus our expansion programme on airports where we are experiencing proven solid growth in line with our financial forecasts.
“This means that we can continue to deliver an aggressive growth strategy for bmibaby. We will be bringing in an additional two aircraft to take the total fleet up to 21.
“We will also be redeploying two units from where growth has not matched that experienced in other key areas. We are in discussion with our airport partners about potential route development opportunities for these extra available aircraft and hope to be in a position to make an announcement and have seats on sale shortly.”
The carrier currently has five aircraft based at Birmingham, five at Nottingham East Midlands, four at Manchester and three at Cardiff,
