Body found in search for Briton who went missing on stag weekend
A charity helping the family of a British man who went missing in Hamburg during his brother’s stag weekend said a body has been found in the River Elbe.
Liam Colgan, aged 29 from Inverness, disappeared in the German city on February 10.
In a statement issued on his family’s behalf, the Lucie Blackman Trust said the dead man had still to be formally identified, but Liam’s driving licence had been found in his pocket. Also, the man was wearing Liam’s clothes.
The charity’s chief executive, Matthew Searle, said: "An astonishing amount of support has been apparent in this case – the search for Liam has been joined by thousands of people, both German and British, and we would like to thank all of them for their support.
"Our thoughts are of course with Liam’s family and friends today."
