Boeing faces lawsuit over Czech airline’s 737 Max losses
Czech airline Smartwings filed a lawsuit against Boeing seeking compensation for financial losses incurred due to the long global grounding of the Boeing 737 Max.
The airline is also demanding the return of one plane as well as the refund of payments on that jet. The suit also asks that Boeing repay it for advance payments made on other aircraft.
Smartwings had ordered eight 737 Max jets from Boeing and agreed to lease 31 more Maxs. It took delivery of its first Max about one year before the grounding.
The airline said it contacted Boeing for answers regarding Max safety after the first crash involving Lion Air but did not get a satisfactory response, the lawsuit alleges.
