Boeing threat to halt China aircraft production
Plane maker Boeing has threatened to stop making planes for China.
It comes after China sent back aircraft due to the US trade war.
Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg said: “We are not going to continue to build airplanes for customers who will not take them.
Ortberg confirmed two aircraft were returned after Beijing ordered airlines not to accept deliveries of Boeing jets.
The company said it would shift production to other airlines customers.
Boeing still has a large backlog of orders worth about $500 billion.
Ortberg announced it narrowed quarterly losses on first quarter revenue of $19.5 billion.
“Our company is moving in the right direction as we start to see improved operational performance across our businesses from our ongoing focus on safety and quality,” he said.
“We continue to execute our plan, are seeing early positive results and remain committed to making the fundamental changes needed to fully recover.
The Boeing 737 program gradually increased production in the first quarter and plans to reach 38 new jets per month this year.

Isn't this all rather pointless! China has already told its airlines not to accept Boeing (and presumably other American aircraft manufacturers) aircraft, so Boeing announcing that it is not making aircraft destined for China is unnecessary - just playing the political games of Trump.
