Bomb blasts at British Consulate in New York
Reports are surfacing of two bomb blasts outside the British Consulate in New York City.
According to Sky News, while there are no reports of any injuries as yet, windows were shattered by two explosions that took place around 03.30 local time.
The website reports that the New York Bomb Squad is on the scene in Third Avenue, Manhattan, and is checking the area for more explosive devices.
A police spokesman is quoted as saying: “There was an explosion in front of the location. It was detonated in one of the cement flower boxes used as a barrier outside the building. There was some damage to the front window but there are no reports of any injuries at this stage.”
The Foreign Office has reportedly confirmed that it is aware of the reports and is said to be investigating.
