Bomb scare closes Bristol Airport
A bomb scare closed Bristol Airport for six hours in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The airport was evacuated after a written note was found on a Ryanair plane from Alicante, which had landed just before midnight on Saturday night.
The note on Ryanair flight FR8297 said a bomb was on board.
A dozen arriving aircraft had to be diverted to other airports, including Cardiff and Birmingham, and the knock-on effect continued into Sunday morning.
Ryanair confirmed the note was a hoax and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
"During a routine inspection, a written hoax bomb threat was discovered on the aircraft. Police carried out a security search and cleared the aircraft to return to service at 8.55am on Sunday," it said.
