Two aircraft were searched at John F Kennedy airport in New York following a bomb threat on Monday.

Officials received an annoymous telephone call claiming that a hijacker and explosives were onboard an American Airlines flight arriving from San Francisco and a Finnair flight arriving from Helsinki, Finland.

Both flights were taken to a secured location on the tarmac where they were searched

The FBI said nothing suspicious was found.

Last week, a US Airways flight was returned to its place of origin in Philadelphia after a similar anonymous phone call said a passenger was carrying liquid explosives.

The call turned out to be from an ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend, Kenneth W. Smith Jr, 26, who was charged for the hoax and now faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
