Bomb threat at Washington DC airport grounds flights
All flights were halted at Washington DC’s Ronald Reagan National Airport after a bomb threat was made.
It targeted an arriving United Airlines flight from Houston, TX.
The bomb scare grounded all flights, while the United flight was held in a secure area. Passengers were deplaned and bussed to the terminal.
The plane was ‘stopped on an adjacent runway away from the terminal in response to a security threat,’ the airport authority said.
The FBI Washington Field Office said no materials or explosive devices were found.
The ground stop lasted about two hours, U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said.
The incident led to initial flight delays of about one hour.
Within hours, another bomb threat was reported targeting a departing Delta flight at New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
The plane taxied away from the terminal building and passengers were deplaned.
It also turned out to be a false threat.
