Bomb threats to plane, cruise ship in Singapore
An Australian national is facing a possible 10-year jail sentence after making bomb threats.
The man apparently made a threat to a flight attendant and was then heard repeating the word ‘bomb’ several times.
The Scoot flight which had just taken off for Perth had a fighter jet escort and returned to Singapore.
It landed safely back at Singapore.
The Australian male was arrested and remains in detention pending a mental evaluation.
In a separate incident in Singapore, another man was charged for making bomb threats on a cruise ship at Singapore’s Marina Bay Cruise Centre.
It led to a full security sweep of the cruise ship but was deemed a hoax.
It caused a two-hour delay for boarding for cruise passengers.
Neo Hui Ghim was arrested and charged for sending an emailed bomb threat.
According to court documents, he has a dispute over a refund or compensation with Resorts World Cruises.
In the email he wrote: “Please return me back my monies else the ship will explode and everyone dropped into the sea”.
