Boston locked down as Marathon bomber flees on foot
Amtrak has been shut down, taxis are suspended, public transportation has been halted, and Bostonians have been advised to stay indoors as police scour the town for one Boston Marathon bomber on the run.
Amtrak at noon announced it is shutting down Northeast Corridor trains in an apparent indication that the bomber likely has slipped through a police dragnet and may be on the move beyond the city.
One bomber has been killed but the other, armed and extremely dangerous, eluded police following a high-speed chase and shootout.
Police have cordoned off much of the Watertown area as SWAT teams go door to door in search of bomber number two.
Security has been heightened at Boston’s Logan Airport. Flights are operating as normal but passengers are being advised to check the status of flights before heading to the airport.
Security camera photo of the suspect at large, identified as 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev of Cambridge. Police say he is armed and dangerous.
