Bournemouth beats Spain in resort survey
Bournemouth has been voted the best resort over its Spanish counterparts by a study conducted by Coast magazine.
The magazine chose four of the top resorts from Britain and Spain and asked a panel of judges to rate them on temperature, facilities, beach quality, cost and eco-friendliness.
Bournemouth was named as the best resort, with the judges praising its atmosphere, nightlife and facilities for children and surfers.
Judges said Spanish resorts scored well for their warmer climate, but dropped points on price, natural beauty and eco-friendliness.
Clare Gogerty, editor of Coast magazine said: “The regeneration of many coastal resorts combined with improved independent hotels, and the natural, wild beauty of the landscape are making British resorts increasingly appealing to those in search of a weekend break or family holiday.”
