Brand USA touts successful start to US golf tourism survey
Brand USA is touting a strong start to its recently launched National Golf Tourism Survey in collaboration with the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO).
Since rolling out the program two months ago, more than 50 state tourist boards and local convention and visitor bureaux have signed up to participate.
In addition, over 200 golf courses have completed the golf visitor survey.
"Calculating the current value of golf tourism and assessing its capacity for growth on a regional basis is an essential first step to developing an effective golf tourism strategy," said IAGTO project coordinator Guillaume Post.
"This survey and service is being conducted entirely free of charge and we would like to invite every state tourist board, regional tourism organisation and commercially minded golf course to get on board."
The nationwide survey aims to assess the impact of golf tourism in order to develop a strategy to grow the US golf tourism industry by targeting key international markets.
The initiative was first unveiled in June at the 7th annual North America Golf Tourism Convention hosted by IAGTO at Palm Springs.
Results of the survey will be released at next year’s IAGTO North America Golf Tourism Convention at Pinehurst Resort, NC in June 2016.
