Branson hints at new Thai airline venture
Virgin founder Richard Branson has hinted that he will launch flights to or within Thailand within the near future.
The entrepreneur reportedly told the Bangkok Post newspaper "I will fly my airline to Thailand soon".
He was speaking during a visit to Virgin Radio studios in the Thai capital before flying to Vietnam.
Declining to give further details of his airline venture in Thailand, he told reporters that it would be ‘done in a big way to shake the industry’.
He added: "I would love to operate flights, one day, to connect to Australia via here."
Branson launched a domestic airline in Australia 15 years ago. Now Virgin Blue has a 35% share of the domestic market.
In Thailand, Virgin has two radio and three Virgin Active Health Clubs in Bangkok. Branson said he aims to open four more clubs in Thailand next year.
