Bravofly claims customers can book flights on app in seconds
Online travel agent Bravofly claims customers can book flights on mobiles in just 30 seconds by using new technology built into its app to scan passports and credit cards.
Using computer vision technology from online and mobile credentials management company Jumio, Bravofly can complete the booking process six times faster than previously, it said.
Customers use the camera on the mobile device to scan their passports and Jumio’s Fastfill automatically adds their personal details and passport number into the booking form.
It claims it is able to process IDs issued by more than 120 countries.
According to Jumio, 80% of customers who start booking travel on mobiles abandon their purchase due to the difficulty of filling out forms on a small keyboard. However, its IBAM Checkout, also installed on Bravofly, can scan payment cards and automatically fill in the checkout form with name, the 16-digit card number and expiry date in less than one second.
"Entering payment data in this manner takes less than one second as compared to nearly 60 seconds for traditional key entry and typically results in at least a 10% lift in completed transaction," it said.
Francesco Signoretti, CEO of Bravofly parent lastminute.com group said: "Our aim is to simplify the life of travellers and providing the best consumer experience through innovation.
"With Jumio’s technology we can now offer our customers a frictionless and secure booking and payment system which will be six times faster than before. This will significantly improve the customer’s travel experience right from the initial booking and fits well with our efforts to continuously leverage our mobile capabilities and features."
