Brazen thieves try to rob passengers mid-air
Two Chinese nationals are alleged to have attempted to rob passengers on a Singapore Airlines’ flight from Jakarta to Singapore.
While other passengers on the SIA flight were watching videos or sleeping on Sunday, two men were helping themselves to valuables in carry-on bags.
According to the Straits Times, the pair rifled through the bags that had been stowed in overhead cabins looking for valuables.
In one case, they found US$5,000 in a laptop bag.
An alert crew member caught the duo in the act of stealing and by the time the flight landed at Changi Airport, police were waiting to make arrests.
The newspaper said several such thefts have happened in the last month. Police reports have been made, and airlines and their crew alerted to this.
