Brazil sets new tourism record
International tourism in Brazil continues its record-breaking rise in 2025.
Between January and June 2025, the country welcomed 5.3 million foreign tourists – an increase of 48.2% compared to last year.
It is the best ever first half total, tourism agency Embratur says.
It represents 77.3% of the full year target set out in the National Tourism Plan 2024-2027 for this year.
If the pace is maintained, Brazil could this year surpass the target of 8.1 million tourists originally set for 2027.
In June alone, 444,882 foreigners arrived in the country, an increase of 33.8% compared to June 2024.
“Tourism in Brazil has gone from being a potential to a reality. We are reaching the levels of foreign tourist arrivals that our country deserves, at a growth rate that is the highest in the world today.”, said president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo.
Data from the Federal Police show that among the top source markets, Argentina still leads the way with 2,323,891 visitors in the first semester of 2025.
Chile (442,993) the US (410,189). Uruguay with 308,956 tourists and Paraguay (306,523) complete the top five.
Then comes France with 132,939 visitors, followed by Portugal (128,114), Germany (103,483) and the UK with 97,413.
The British tourist total is 20% higher than in 2024.
