Breaking news: Massive forest fire on Cote d’Azur
More than two thousands people have reportedly been evacuated from campsites in the south of France after massive fires destroyed thousands of acres of forest.
Four campsites near the Cote d’Azur resort of St Aygulf, around 40 miles west of Toulon, were evacuated as the fire burned through some 15,000 acres of forest. More than a thousand firefighters were called to deal with inferno, which is the biggest to hit the area so far this year.
There have been no reports of any injuries, but some witnesses have told reporters that the fire is the biggest the area has seen in more than a decade. Anyone heading for the region is advised to seek local advice before setting off.
