Brian Turner to judge New ‘Naturally Guernsey Culinary Awards’ 2004
Culinary breaks on Guernsey from just £90 per person. Brian Turner CBE, celebrity chef and star of the television series ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’, will be judging entrants at Guernsey’s new restaurant competition, ‘The Naturally Guernsey Culinary Awards’. Traditionally, April in Guernsey always takes on a gastronomic theme as the island’s early spring weather brings with it abundant seafood and natural produce. A warmer climate and enthusiastic restaurants keen to showcase their skills make it a great time to visit one of the British Isles’ sunniest destinations. Throughout April, Guernsey’s restaurateurs will be demonstrating their many and varied talents within a £25 five course dinner category with a short list selected from score cards filled out by the dining public and based on the whole eating experience. Brian Turner and his panel of expert judges will then visit the kitchen of each short listed restaurant in early May. Visitors to Guernsey and its neighbouring islands of Herm, Sark and Alderney, will be spoilt for choice for, as well as the 13 competing restaurants, a further 27 will be creating mouth-watering menus priced at £15 and £20 per person. As always, the islands’ fresh produce and exceptional seafood will be a notable feature on many menus. Guernsey is just 35-45 minutes flying time from airports throughout the UK, or alternatively the island can be reached by Condor Ferry from Weymouth or Poole. No passports are required and the Channel Islands are duty free. Channel Islands Direct are offering a two-night break on Guernsey from £90 per person. Price includes accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis and foot passage by ferry from Weymouth or Poole.
