The 27-year old male was taken into custody by the Guardia Civil police when the ship docked in Palma, Mallorca.

He is facing an allegation of rape.

The female guest, 33, made a complaint to crew of the MSC Fantasia and he was then detained by the ship’s security.

The man, a national of Kenya, was bailed after a first court appearance.

The victim has given a statement to police.

The cruise line acknowledged the incident.

“We are aware of the incident. It was reported to the appropriate law enforcement authorities and we are assisting with the investigation,” MSC Cruises said.

The police said investigations are still ongoing but it is unclear exactly what charges the suspect is facing.
