British man the sole survivor of Air India crash
Air India announced 241 of the 242 people on board the doomed Ahmedabad flight to London died with only one survivor.
Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, 40 from Leicester, was named as the only survivor.
He miraculously suffered only minor injuries
There were also fatalities in damaged buildings at the crash site.
“Thirty seconds after take-off, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly,” Kumar Ramesh told India media.
Just moments after Air India flight 117 took off it crashed just beyond the airport.
The plane had issued a mayday call almost immediately.
Passengers included 169 from India, 53 from the UK, seven from Portugal and one from Canada.
