British tourists missing after Egypt boat fire
Three British tourists are missing after their boat caught fire in the Egyptian Red Sea.
The dive boat was caught on camera engulfed by flames in waters off Marsa Alam.
Another dozen British tourists and boat crew were rescued from the water, according to boat operator, Tornado Marine Fleet
The cause of the blaze is thought to be an engine room short circuit.
“We are in contact with local authorities following an incident aboard a dive boat near Marsa Alam and are supporting British nationals involved,” the Foreign Office said.
The boat left Port Ghalib early last week on a liveaboard dive trip
The Red Sea Governorate said a search is still ongoing for the three missing passengers.
The fire occurred on a reef about 12km offshore.
The rescued guests were picked up by another boat and are now recovering at a Marsa Alam dive resort.
