British woman dies in south of France river crash
Police are investigating after a British woman died during a boat crash on the Rhone River in the south of France.
The woman, who is understood to be Jess Wilkes, 27, was on a free boat shuttle service from the river island of Barthelasse, returning to Pont d’Avignon, when the accident happened.
According to reports, she had spent the evening at a restaurant with eight friends and was returning when the boat struck a beacon, throwing her overboard.
Five other people, including one Briton, were taken to hospital after the collision, two of them with serious injuries.
