Two British nationals are among the 98 who died in the Christchurch earthquake, the Foreign Office has confirmed.
One has been named as North Yorkshire 25-year-old chef Gregory Tobin.
It is believed a further two Brits are among the 226 missing following the 6.3 strong quake that shook the stunning New Zealand city on Tuesday.
The British High Commission said the men had got on a bus which was crushed by falling masonry.
A British search and rescue team has now arrived in the city to help emergency services dig out bodies from the rubble.
