Budget carrier Volare suspends services
Italian no-frills carrier Volare suspended flights on Friday, sparking speculation of a financial crisis.
The airline, which runs an Italin domestic network and runs international flights to cities such as Madrid, Barcelonca, Valencia, paris, Prague and Bucharest, cancelled all flights.
A message on the carrier’s website – www.volareweb.com – said: “We regret to inform all passengers that all our flights are cancelled and tickets are not on sale at the moment. We aplogise for any inconvenience caused.”
Italy’s aviation authorities are expected to discuss the airline’s financial position today (Monday). Volare employs almost 1,400 staff and has a fleet of 24 aircraft.
Volare has been reported as having debts of 250 million euros.
