Bumper Delta pay deal sets industry benchmark
Delta Air Lines pilots 34% pay increase is likely the new industry benchmark as other airlines look to stave off possible industrial action.
United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby said the Delta contract will allow other airlines ‘get deals done on the same terms.’
However Kirby told Reuters similar pay deals will lead to higher fares.
Delta offered pilots a 34% raise over three years, including increase of 18% when the deal is ratified.
The deal is still to be officially approved by the union.
Unions are still in talks at both United and American Airlines.
