BUSHMANS KLOOF GETS CONDÉ NAST ‘WORLD SAVERS AWARD 2009’

Yet another accolade to add to the luxurious Bushman’s treasury
South Africa’s Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat has been named Global Winner of Wildlife Conservation Programs (2009) in the prestigious third annual Condé Nast Traveler World Savers Awards.
This honour was bestowed in recognition of its exceptional wildlife conservation projects and the replenishment of wildlife in the area. Current projects include providing a sanctuary for the endangered Cape Mountain Zebra and for the Clanwilliam Yellow Fish; support of the Cape Mountain Leopard project; the Clanwilliam Cedar Tree project, efforts in clearing alien vegetation.
The exclusive Relais & Châteaux retreat, 270km north of Cape Town, was also just voted the Best Hotel in the World in the 2009 US Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards readers’ survey.
The World Savers Awards are an initiative of the internationally acclaimed Condé Nast Traveler magazine, recognized globally as the ultimate guide to the world’s finest properties and cruise lines. The awards honour those travel companies making a difference in areas of poverty alleviation, health, education, wildlife conservation and environmental or cultural preservation. The results of the prestigious awards are published in the September 2009 issue of Condé Nast Traveler, available August 25.
The award will be presented to Bushmans Kloof during the third annual World Savers Congress on September 21, in New York City (USA). The Congress is part of Condé Nast Traveler’s ongoing efforts to encourage the travel industry to do more to address issues of global poverty, health, education, and environmental depredation. The magazine’s approach is to introduce major travel industry players to organizations and resources that will assist in implementing more effective programs worldwide.
