Business travel managers name their favourite airport
London City Airport was named last night as the best UK airport for business travellers.
The Docklands airport was praised by judges of the Business Travel Awards for its efficiency in dealing with the challenges of heightened security and weather disruption.
The airport closed only briefly during the severe weather in December last year, while nearby Heathrow was forced cancel almost 2,000 flights.
The judges also recognised London City’s ‘continuous commitment to service excellence, with the continued emphasis on speedy passenger processing’.
The airport, which has recently extended its security area to cut queues during busy periods, will shortly open an expanded departure lounge.
Chief executive Richard Gooding said: "We are honoured to receive this prestigious accolade, of Best UK Airport, by this very distinguished panel of corporate travel managers who are at the heart of company travel policies and understand the
demands of business travel.
"Through continuous performance improvements and new initiatives we will
continue to ensure every aspect of the Airport’s operations delivers a
seamless fast passenger experience."
