Butlins threatens to eject rowdy guests
Butlins is threatening to throw drunken guests out of its flaship Minehead resort in an attempt to curb anti-social behaviour in the Somerset town.
The resort is partly funding two additional police officers, said the Daily Telegraph, who will be on duty in the town during the autumn.
The move follows fears that locals will be put off visiting the town centre due to the number of large groups in the pubs and bars and anti-social behaviour.
Butlins’ Minehead resort is a popular destination for stag and hen weekends, especially during its adult-only Big Weekends when breaks cost from just £69.
Butlins Minehead site director Julian Highfield told the newspaper: "We know many guests enjoy spending time in Minehead and the surrounding area during their Butlins’ break.
"It’s in the interests of our guests, as well as our town, to ensure anti- social behaviour is dealt with swiftly."
Any Butlins’ guest guilty of alcohol-related anti-social behaviour will be taken back to the site by police and asked to vacate their accommodation, said the Telegraph. They will not be offered refunds.
