Buyers’ market this winter
Prices for holidays this winter are likely to be ‘very keen’, according to the Association of British Travel Agents.
The Sunday Times travel section reports that there are bargains to be had with many of the tour operators, many of which have had a difficult year. The newspaper states that forward bookings are down an average of 14% on last year, with some companies cutting the price of winter bookings by as much as 50%.
A spokesman for ABTA reportedly told the newspaper: “Prices are going to be very keen this winter. Even if bookings start to come back up because people feel more happy about travelling, tour operators still need to claw back lost business.”
Among the bargains on offer, the Sunday Times highlights 50% off a 10-night Mediterranean cruise with Costa Cruises, 35% of a one-week trip to Barbados with BA Holidays, and 40% off trips to Dubai with Tropical Places.
