Call for mandatory Indian music on flights
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is demanding each Indian airline plays Indian music onboard flights. The ICCR wants it mandatory that only Indian music is played. It submitted a proposal to the Civil Aviation Ministry.
ICCR President Vinay Sahasrabuddhe bemoaned that airlines ‘seldom, if at all play Indian music.’ It wants to keep India traditional music alive and also showcase it to a wider international audience.
"Our music mirrors our rich heritage and culture and it is one of the many things every Indian has a reason to be proud of," he said.
