Canada to launch pre-clearance checks for Britons
Britons flying to Canada must apply for US-style electronic travel authorisation from March 15.
The pre-clearance checks, announced last year, have been introduced by the Canadian government to prevent high-risk travellers entering the country.
The requirement for an eTA applies to all visitors who aren’t currently required to have a visa to travel to Canada, including British citizens and those who only intend to transit in Canda.
The eTA costs C$7 (about £3.40) per passenger and lasts for five years or until the passport is renewed.
Passengers must apply online.
