Canadian LCC Flair Airlines relocating HQ to Edmonton
Canadian low-cost airline Flair Airlines is shifting its headquarters to Edmonton.
The carrier will move its headquarters from Kelowna to Edmonton over the coming months.
The move is driven by capacity growth out of main transfer hub Edmonton since repositioning itself as a scheduled carrier in 2017.
All operations and executive functions will progressively relocate to Edmonton and the move will create hundreds of jobs, the airline said.
"Just last week, Flair doubled its frequency out of Edmonton and, as one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, the community and the airport are uniquely positioned to support our ongoing growth," said Flair’s executive chairman, David Tait.
About 65% of its 200-plus flights a week serve Edmonton.
It plans to add both domestic and international routes and more frequencies from Edmonton in the coming weeks.
"Over the past year of operation, not only has Flair introduced new destinations and increased route frequencies, it has successfully expanded Edmonton into its main transfer hub for Canada. This reflects Flair’s strong confidence in the Edmonton metro region," said Tom Ruth, president and CEO of Edmonton International Airport.
