Canadian low cost startup Swoop names president
WestJet Group has appointed Steven Greenway as ultra-low cost carrier Swoop’s first president.
Greenway takes charge on March 5 and has full responsibility for the new airline’s operations, planning, branding, and product development strategy.
Greenway brings two decades of airline operations experience and was a founding member and chief commercial officer for Asia based Scoot, Singapore Airlines’ low cost brand.
He has also held leadership roles at Virgin Atlantic, Qantas and Japan’s Peach Aviation.
"Steven brings extensive expertise in ULCC operations including sales, distribution, planning, revenue management, as well as loyalty and commercial strategy; all expertise that we welcome to the table," said Gregg Saretsky, WestJet group president and CEO.
Greenway replaces Bob Cummings who was the WestJet executive in charge of Swoop’s formation and pre-operations launch.
Cummings becomes WestJet executive vice-president of strategy and guest services.
"It’s thrilling to be part of the Swoop story and to have the chance to drive Swoop to change the Canadian travel market in the same way that WestJet did two decades ago," Greenway said.
