Canadian shot dead in Mexico
A Canadian tourist has been shot dead in Mexico, just days after another tourist was killed.
Both tourist murder incidents happened the state of Oaxaca this week.
Canadian tourist Victor Masson, 27, died after being shot in the back.
His body was found inside a car in the quiet beach town of Puerto Escondido.
No motive has been disclosed yet.
Two days earlier an Argentinian tourist died in hospital after being hacked with a machete in Laguna de Chacahua
Benjamin Gamond was attacked from behind by a suspect who has since been arrested.
Two friends were also injured.
Violence against visiting tourists is rare in Oaxaca.
In fact, Oaxaca and its beach towns have lower crime rates than most Mexican states.
Americans traveling to Mexico were advised to take extra caution, while some Mexican states on under ‘Level 4: Do Not Travel’ advisories due to cartel violence fears.
